THE EXHIBITION
The show presents the sculpture collection donated by the major art historian and connoisseur Federico Zeri (Rome, 1921 – Mentana, 1998) to the Accademia Carrara of Bergamo, an establishment he held in particularly high esteem.
The 46 sculptures, by both Italian and non-Italian artists, illustrate an extraordinary voyage through the history of art from the 1400s to the 1800s, narrated and interpreted by a series of text displays.
The exhibition also includes two highly important works by Renaissance painters, also belonging to the Accademia collections, that Zeri attributed and studied. The masterpiece does not exist also includes a number of contemporary works that were either chosen by the master or relate to his intellectual world.
Visitors are accompanied by Zeri thanks to montages of his appearances on the Italian television channel RAI. The title of the exhibition is an actual quotation from the great man himself that induces visitors to investigate all of the relational possibilities in each work to help reconstruct the cultural image of the various epochs.
